A big day with real elevation and an early start, but no technical scrambling. Built for a reasonably fit first-timer with guided pacing and a whole crew behind you.

The Trip at a Glance
  1. Day 1Meet at camp near the Mt. Shavano trailhead in the early evening, set up and share a family dinner with your new trail crew. We gear up, go over the plan and safety, then turn in early.
  2. Day 2A pre-dawn wake-up and breakfast, then we start up the trail in the dark. We aim to reach the summit by mid-morning and have lunch on top if the weather allows, then head down and celebrate back at the cars in the early afternoon before packing up camp.

A general outline, not a schedule. Pace and timing flex with the group and the weather, and we take as many breaks as we need. You will get a detailed itinerary and packing list before the trip.

From Past Hikers

“Shelby created an unforgettable, meaningful experience for us. As novice hikers, we reached the summit of Mt. Princeton and gained knowledge about safety, navigation, wildlife, and smart hiking techniques.”

Angie H.

“We had an absolutely incredible experience with Ground Up Adventures, all thanks to our amazing guide, Shelby Mann! After a few failed attempts to summit a 14er on our own, my husband and I decided we needed some expert help, and Shelby was the perfect choice.”
